An Ancient Calling

An Ancient Calling is a story about a group of friends separated by time. In their dreams they each hear an ancient ‘calling’ sound inviting them to embark on a journey through time to a special place where only friends converge. On this journey they rediscover the importance and beauty of friendship. Brian Cope, Senior Tutor with Drake Scotland says, “We were so excited when we heard about the Carnyx as this was exactly the kind of instrument we had been looking for. Our story is about an ancient calling sound that penetrates the dreams of a group of friends separated by time and space. John Kenny was kind enough to come and work with our group for a whole morning during which time he introduced us to the Carnyx and recorded the opening of our composition which will be premiered later this year”.

The project incorporates music, movement, drama, visual art and animation and will culminate in a performance of ‘An Ancient Calling’ on Tuesday 11th November 2003 at the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline. Please contact Drake for more information.
